Tree of Dreams

He's a child with eyes of wonder
She's a flower of young innocence
See the cloudless blue sky under
A tree of dreams

He was born to the wretched poor,
She's living amidst the rich
But when their life was broken
It felt the same

Dreams shattered by a drunk father
Touched by an unwelcome hand
Young minds scarred and twisted
Can't shout or speak

How long will they soak in the tears
Live through those years of pain
When will they leave their fears
See their life unseen

Thrown out on the road to nowhere
Or hid in the closet of pain
Who will let the sunshine
Reach within

Hold their hands, remove their fear
Open their eyes, wipe their tears
Dance when the dark cloud clears
Under their tree of dreams

He was a child with eyes of wonder
She was a flower of young innocence
Now they watch the blue sky under
their tree of dreams
