My City Cries

I was once a city, of gardens so green
Warm rays of sunshine, fresh air to breathe
Swaying big trees through the day a cool breeze
Travel the city under a green canopy.

That’s when I grew all over, a metro I came to be.
In the name of opportunity, a million people moved in here
A modern city they call me, building concrete over greens.
Progress is what they say it is, destruction is what they achieved

So will you change , change for me
So will you wipe away the tears off me
So will you change, change for me
Will you bring change for you and me

The storm water drains are filled with filth
The bridges across are built on loose silt
Lake beds encroached upon to real estate cheer
No one fights back, there seems to be no fear

When the skies open up, lakes break through the seams
Do you have to wait and look  till the end is near
Can’t you see the water rising, our drowned fate is clear
For some, water precious and others a flood of tears.

So will you change , change for me
So will you wipe away the tears off me
So will you change, change for me
Will you bring change for you and me
